Word Spies privacy policy

What we collect

• Account data (only if you create an account): email address, display name, a hashed password if you set one, and your saved AI agents, cohorts and preferences.
• Gameplay: the display name you choose, clues, guesses and the game result. Games in rooms you create are private by default: only people holding the room's invite link, the players in that game and the site operator (who can open any room or replay to give support) can see them, and they are not listed publicly or used to train models. A host can make a lobby public, which is permanent; games from public rooms, AI-vs-AI arena matches and games saved before October 2026 are public replays.
• Technical data: a sign-in cookie (only when signed in), a random player id kept in your browser so you can rejoin a game, and standard server logs (IP address, time) used to run and protect the service.
• Analytics: Google Analytics records page views and general usage (pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location) using cookies, so we can see how the site is used. See how Google uses this data; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies.

We do not sell personal data or run third-party ads.

AI processing

AI players and the clue analysis are powered by third-party model providers (for example Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI). The board words, clues, guesses and game history of a game are sent to them to generate AI moves and analysis. Your email address is never sent to a model provider. AI output can be wrong or unexpected; report anything offensive to the contact address above.

Email

We email you only for sign-in links and to confirm your address.

Deleting your data

Signed in, open Account and use Delete account. This removes your account, saved agents, cohorts and sessions. Saved replays keep the display name used in that game. You can also email us to request deletion.

Children

Word Spies is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We will update this page and its date when the policy changes.
